Sunday, May 1 is National Decision day. This day was chosen as Nation Decision Day because it, “Allows high school students to make a decision before they graduate, allows colleges time to know who will be in their freshman class next year and to schedule summer orientation sessions with students, and allows colleges time to go to their ‘waiting list’ (if they have one) if they still have spots left in their class and want to invite those students to enroll before next fall,” states Ms. Michels. Seniors are finally wrapping up their big decision on the path they are taking next year. They are also getting excited about wearing their favorite college apparel and discovering where all their classmates will be attending next year.

Next year Senior, Abby Palma will be studying physical therapy with a minor in Spanish at the University of Kansas. She chose this school due to the scholarships given by the school. Abby is getting super excited for college and has already received her room assignment. Not many other TG students are going there, so she is really looking forward to what next year has in store.

One of our signing seniors, Julia Sullwold, is attending Iowa Lakes next year to play softball. Softball made a big impact on her college decision, along with the coaches. She is going to school for physical education and special education. There is no one else from TG going there and she if very excited meet new people on and off the field.

Former senior E’Gal, Amanda Olson, will be continuing her dance career at the College of Saint Benedict next year. She is excited to go to St. Ben’s because of “dance and the sense of community.” She will be studying Global Business. Even though there are a lot of TG students going there next year, Amanda is excited to meet new people on the dance team.

Senior, Amelia Vosen, next year will be attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. She will be playing hockey and minoring in Spanish. She has not received her rooming assignment yet, so she is unsure who her roommate will be. There are only a couple other students from TG going to Gustavus and Amelia is really looking forward to National Decision Day to see where everyone was going!

Many seniors have already decided where they want to go and are getting ready for the next steps. It’s exciting, yet a scary experience for students and their families. It’s a bittersweet feeling walking into school and seeing everyone in their school apparel. You may be excited to see where everyone is going, but it really hits you when you see your best friend or your boyfriend wearing a different school name. Seniors may be ready to get out of high school, but there’s less than a month left to say our goodbyes to our soon to be former classmates. Overall, the majority of seniors are very excited for National Decision Day, so they can take pictures with their classmates that will be attending the same school as them next year, and because they are one step closer to the next chapter in their lives.FullSizeRenderIMG_1106
