Ways to Stay Entertained in Minnesota this Summer
May 5, 2016
For most of us who have lived in Minnesota our whole lives, this big ole’ land of 10,000 lakes can often seem like a place where there is nothing to do but eat lutefisk and scrape ice off the windshields of our cars. However, this beautiful state is anything but uneventful; in fact, I couldn’t think of a more entertaining place to live in the United States. Being a true Minnesota girl at heart, I’ve thought of my favorite ways to spend unforgettable Minnesota summers.
1.) Minneapolis Movies in the Park: 15 minutes before sunset multiple times a week, free movies are shown in different parks all around the twin cities. For the full movie schedule check out their website below.

2.) Stone Arch Bridge Festival: From June 17-19, there will be concerts and festivities around the bridge. More details and information on their website.

3.) Bike rides around Minnehaha Falls: Bike rental is available, and afterwards go grab food at Sea Salt Eatery nearby!
4.) Art-A-Whirl: Local artists from around the Twin Cities gather to display and sell their work in Northeast Minneapolis. It’s the largest open studio in the country!
5.) Walker Art Center: The first Saturday of every month score free admission to the gallery and museum.
6.) Visit the North Shore: Take a road trip up to Duluth to visit the Split Rock Lighthouse, hike along the Temperance River, swim in Gooseberry Fall, and eat at the historic Grandma’s Saloon and Grill afterwards.
7.) Trip to Stillwater: Hit up Nelson’s ice cream to guarantee yourself a stomachache, walk along the St. Croix River, and check out cool shops along the way.
8.) Mickey’s Diner: Craving greasy food at 3 in the morning? You’re not a true Minnesotan until you’ve eaten at this legendary restaurant in St. Paul.
9.) Midtown Global Market: Quench your ethnic food cravings by eating at one of the many food vendors in this Minneapolis joint.

10.) St. Paul Farmer’s Market: A great way to spend a Saturday morning by getting your greens (and reds) and stocking up on your sunflowers!
