“Fun, interesting, unpredictable, and faith strengthening” are words that Mrs. Emily Sharockman uses to describe her experience at TG.

“My Catholic faith keeps me optimistic and hopeful each and every day – there’s a quote once that reads, ‘Your worst day with God will be better than your best day without Him,’ and I truly believe that. I’ve found that even on bad days, my life is amazing because God is in my corner! Because of that, I’ve been able to look at ‘bad’ things as blessings and appreciate each day I’ve been given,” replied Mrs. Emily Sharockman through email.  Mrs. Sharockman feels blessed to know that even when she is “feeling alone or unappreciated, God always sees me and I was uniquely created on purpose, for a purpose.”

She worked at TG in the Advancement Office in 2012, then left due to another opportunity, after a short time Mrs. Sharockman came back to Totino-Grace in the summer of 2015 and is now working in the Admissions Office, “I feel so blessed to be part of this unique community and am so happy I made the choice to come back!”

When asked what keeps her coming back to Totino-Grace, she replied, “Truly, the fact that I love my job, enjoy working with TG students and staff, and feel that I’m making a difference keeps me motivated to come to work and put in 110% every day.”

Her favorite saint is St. Anthony, who is the patron saint of lost articles.  “I call on him fairly often to help find things that have been misplaced or lost!”  Her favorite quote is from C. C. Scott, “The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.”  In an email interview, she was asked what her favorite meal is, “Anything that includes red meat –  I love burgers and steak!”  Mrs. Sharockman loves the restaurant Pittsburgh Blue, “it was where my husband and I went on our first date, so we visit there often!”

If Mrs. Sharockman could go on vacation anywhere, she would definitely go to Bali, she has never been there but she has been interested since she read the book ‘Eat – Pray – Love’ years ago. “That place just sounds incredible!”  In her free time you can find her doing a variety of interesting activities!  “I love being active! When the weather is nice, I enjoy bike rides around the lakes with my husband. I learned how to downhill ski this year, so I’ve been trying to get out and do that as much as possible.  I also love running and I play on a volleyball league once a week.”

“In addition, I love to read, spend time with family and friends and follow Duke basketball. Truth be told, I also really enjoy reality TV – The Bachelor is one of my favorites!”  Her favorite music artist is Neil Diamond, “friends laugh at me for liking him, but I can’t help myself – I’m a huge fan!”  Lastly, when asked if she were 90 years old, what advice she would give to her kids and grandkids, she replied, “Count your blessings…multiple times a day! Quit comparing what you have, or don’t have to others, it’s a waste of the precious life and time you’ve been given on this earth.  Appreciate who  you have in your life – tell the people you love that you love them!”
