Athlete Profile: Erin Poepping

Hannah Daley, Contributer

As the end of the school year gets closer, students are making final decisions on where they want to go. Many student athletes have committed to the college of their dreams. One of theses students is Junior, Erin Poepping.

Erin committed to East Carolina University for softball. She has been playing softball since she was 4 years old, which makes that 13 years of doing what she loves.

I felt comfortable there like I could just pick up and move their right away. It was exactly what I wanted; a D1 school in a major conference, and I love the coaches”. Erin is looking forward to moving to the East Coast, especially because there will be less snow and warmer weather!

Erin trains year round. “I lift in the winter, work out every night (abs, legs and arms), and practice with my team is anywhere from 3-7 hours on Sundays. In the summer were are gone the whole month of June and July playing tournaments all over the country. We have PGF nationals at the end of July and that’s the top teams in the entire nation. Also, I pitch about 4 times a week for at least an hour and a half each time”.

Erin will be majoring in Physical Therapy and minoring in Special Education at East Carolina University. Her hard work has paid off, and she is looking forward to what is to come.
