It may only be February, but prom dress shopping is already hitting its peak. The Totino-Grace prom may be months away on May 7th- a Saturday, but girls are already on the hunt for their perfect dress.

Local prom dress store Rubi Jubi carries around 20 different designers. When Nicole Gagnon, a Rubi Jubi employee, was asked about designers, she replied, “Jovani and Mac Duggal are very popular.” She also named Rachel Allan, La Femme, and Alyce Paris as other popular designers this year. Rubi Jubi sells dresses that are anywhere from $99-$700.

The popular styles this year at Rubi Jubi are long sleeves, slits, two pieces, and fishnet according to Nicole. She also claimed the shades of red and blue to be very popular.

Prom season may be at its peak, but Rubi Jubi offers a special event which allows customers to avoid the rush. This event is a private group party. A group of up to 8 girls are able to come into the store after hours to try on dresses with their moms. This allows for more attention from sales associates and lots of opinions from friends and moms. Groups must book a party beforehand.

Prom dress shopping is one of many weekend options for girls this time of year. Many surveyed girls claim to have already gone shopping at least once, and some have their dress already. If you were to ask Nicole when to start shopping, she would reply with, “Now. Yesterday. Get on it!”
