Senior Night for Girls Swimming

On Thursday, October 6th, the Totino-Grace girls swim team had their final home meet against Washburn High School (TMT Minneapolis) and lost with a final score of 92-83.

In swimming, scores are on a scale of 5-1, 5 being high and 1 being low for individual events and it doubles for relays.

“This is our last home meet and I just want to see the girls have fun with each other as a team and enjoy their moments,” said swim coach Olivia Rodriguez. The girls on the team wanted to honor the seniors, including TG’s senior Taylor Holewa, for their achievements and plans in the future.

Each race has two heats (a group of swimmers racing against one another), one for varsity and the other for junior-varsity.

Skyler Lockwood and Sydney Bebeau are the team’s divers and they brought in a lot of points for the team. For swimmers, high points included Stephanie Holmgren and Hannah Svihel.

The girls showed support for their teammates and had high energy, making it a good night for the entire team.
The swim team is currently on the road to sections and Coach Rodriguez hopes to send at least one girl to state.
