Stressing about finals; ways to relax

Ella Padden, Contributor

There is a about a month of school left for the seniors, and slightly more than a month for the other students. But before school can let out and we can all go enjoy summer, we have one final obstacle to overcome; FINALS. And they can be so stressful. To make them a little better, here’s a list of ways to reduce your finals stress and make the last days of school more bearable.

Find an Animal

  • Totino Grace brought in dogs as stress relievers last semester, but it is unknown if Administration will do that again this year. So try finding an animal yourself. It’s been proven that dogs can reduce stress, and spending time with a dog is just fun. Infact, any animal that you can play with and cuddle with can reduce stress and raise your dopamine levels.

Unplug

  • Take a break from your electronics! Get off your phone, play some music with your headphones out and sit down to color or read a book. Unplug and you can become less stressed.

Jam out

  • Speaking of music, make yourself a study playlist. But don’t fill it with songs you’ll get distracted and sing along to. Chose instrumental music, or edm, anything with few words. Pick a movie soundtrack you really like and listen to that. While lyrics are fun, they can distract you. Also, take a dance break. Get yourself up and moving; you will feel less tense.

Sleep

  • Go take a nap. High schools kids are tired, and as the weather gets nice, go relax outside. Take a nap and re energize yourself. Sleep in a hammock or just relax in the grass. You’ll feel better, and be more focused if you aren’t falling asleep in your textbook.

Hang with Friends

  • Find some friends and have a study session. You can help each other out and stay motivated. After a bit of studying, take a break. Tell each other jokes and laugh till you cry. Laughter can relax your body and it causes your brain to release endorphins, which make you happier and less irritable at your work.
